Organic materials treatment center

New mandates

By Sandra Micaelo 5 August 2019

After more than a year of hard work, EBC and its partner Suez Canada Waste Services have been awarded by the City of Montréal the contract to build and manage an organic materials treatment center.

This major project for the building division is a first of its kind for EBC. This waste treatment center project will be erected on Henri-Bourassa Boulevard West, east of Highway 13, in the Saint-Laurent borough.

The building, which will be constructed according to the principles of sustainable development, will aim for LEED® GOLD certification and will feature a green roof that can accommodate urban agriculture activities.

The new treatment center, expected to be commissioned in the Fall of 2021, will be capable of processing up to 50,000 tons of organic each year, diverting it from landfills and transforming it into quality compost.
