Expansion of the Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital

New mandates

By Johanne Laurin 12 June 2020

EBC is very pleased to have been selected, via a quality-price public tender selection process, by the Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI), for the construction management mandate of the Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital expansion project in Terrebonne. This work will notably increase hospital capacity by adding 246 short-term care beds and thus adequately meet the growing needs of the Lanaudière regional population.

The expansion project has four components. First, the construction of a 2900 m² one-storey wooden frame building with mechanical spaces in the basement, adjacent to the hospital, to house two 35-bed transitional care units. Then, a major extension in height will be connected to the existing building and three secondary extensions will also be built. In addition, there will be numerous redevelopments at the level of clinical units as well as certain technical and support platforms. The entire parking lot will also be subject to significant improvements on the hospital site. LEED certification is targeted.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first component of the transitional units was advanced and construction began in April 2020 from the first days of the beginning of the EBC mandate.

The work of the various components will extend over more than eight years.

A promising project for the well-being of the community!
