Port Saint John Westside Terminal Modernization Project

New mandates

By Chantal 19 August 2020

In order to meet the ever-increasing demand from the largest port in Atlantic Canada in terms of volume, the Saint John Port Authority (New Brunswick) decided to modernize the Westside Terminal to accommodate vessels of larger size and optimize cargo handling capabilities through the use of new technologies.

As part of this megaproject, the Pomerleau-EBC Marine Works (PEMW) joint venture was mandated to carry out the main construction package of the project, that is, dredging and construction of the concrete caissons.

The works include the dredging of more than 350,000 m3, the construction of two berms, drilling and blasting underwater as well as the fabrication, placement and filling of eight concrete caissons, for a total of 35,000 m3 of concrete.

The project started in March 2020 and will end in May 2021.
