Portsmouth pumping station and trunk watermain redirection

New mandates

By Johanne Laurin 2 June 2021

Utilities Kingston has selected EBC to carry out Phase 2A works to its Portsmouth pumping station, located along Lake Ontario. This project is crucial to the City of Kingston due to an increase in demand for drinking water, an increase in demand for wastewater collection and treatment and an anticipated area expansion.

The project requires the installation of a 1,050 mm watermain and a 600 mm sanitary force main on Front Street, in Kingston. Its sustainable objective is to redirect the flow of the pumping station to the western part of the city.

Located in a high-traffic residential and industrial area, the project also includes piping installation by trenchless method into Dolostone bedrock under the Little Cataraqui Creek and a live CN spur line.

The project will begin in early July 2021 and end in August 2022.

Thank you to Utilities Kingston for allowing us to showcase our expertise that will benefit their community.
