EBC is pleased to work on the refurbishment of Hydro-Québec’s Rapide-7 generating station. Built in 1939 and located in Rouyn-Noranda, Hydro-Québec awarded us this project to improve the safety and durability of its structures.
This project calls for the repair of its spillway concrete structures, road bridges, and the replacement of its water intake winches. As the station’s dam is 183 meters long, works were planned in stages, so a section of the spillway remains accessible at all times.
The bridge deck that serves as roadway for vehicles travelling from one side of the river to the other will be demolished and then rebuilt according to new standards. Some of the concrete structures below the bridge will also be repaired.
Works began in April 2023, at the Rapide-7 station and will be completed in November 2025. Collaborating with Hydro-Québec, EBC has created lasting connections with local contractors to successfully collaborate on the project.
