prizes & rewards

By Johanne Laurin 15 October 2020

On October 13, 2020, the Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois 2020 were presented, honoring the best projects in the industry that help build a sustainable economy through engineering and innovation.

Presented virtually by the Association des firmes de génie-conseil – Québec (AFG), the 18th edition of the competition broke an attendance record with over 700 registrations.

Standing out in terms of innovation, boldness or proactivity, the Université de Montréal’s MIL Campus project won the coveted Visionary Award in addition to winning in the Structure Building category.

An exemplary campus from an environmental standpoint, the project offered several structural challenges that were successfully overcome. With nearly 4,000 workers, the 60,000 m² university campus was the largest university construction project in Canada and the fourth largest construction project in Québec, after the Université de Montréal Hospital Centre (CHUM), the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge and the Turcot Interchange.
