New Île d’Orléans Bridge: Québec awards project to EBC and Dragados Canada

New mandates

By Alexandra Fortin 16 April 2024

It is with great enthusiasm and pride that we announce the remarkable news that Dragados Canada and EBC have been selected by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to design and build the new Île d’Orléans Bridge.

After a rigorous and very demanding selection process, the Groupe Héritage de l’Île d’Orléans Consortium, formed of Dragados Canada and EBC, was selected to bring this large-scale project to fruition. This success clearly demonstrates the confidence placed in us by the Ministry.

In addition to designing and building this magnificent 2.1-km bridge between Québec and Île d’Orléans, with a cable-stayed section of 900 metres, and a 430-metre main span, this major project includes roadwork and landscaping of the Route 138 Northern Interchange, including works connecting the bridge to the island’s road network. The project also includes the design and construction of multifunctional paths on both sides of the new bridge and around the Montmorency Falls.

Design and construction will take approximately 5 years, with commissioning in 2028 and completion scheduled for 2029. This bridge, far more than just an imposing structure, will become a significant symbol of our collective progress as a Canadian leader in construction.

EBC is firmly committed to ensuring responsible construction, while adhering to the highest industry standards. Several measures will be implemented to minimize environmental impact, promote sustainability, and ensure the safety of our workers throughout the construction process. We are convinced that EBC’s expertise and skills will be key to the success of this ambitious project. This achievement will certainly leave a mark on EBC’s history!

We wish to congratulate everyone involved in winning this project!
