Laurie-Ève-Cormier Aquatic Center

Laurie-Ève-Cormier Aquatic Center (formerly known as Pierre-Laporte Sport Center) erected in 1966, had reached the end of usefulness. The building expansion was indispensable. The new aquatic complex is equipped with a recreational pool and two new indoor pools with a total of 18 swimming corridors. In addition to the existing outdoor pool, the building now houses an infirmary, a dojo, a training room, accommodations for athletes, and areas for local organizations. Redevelopment work was also planned to increase the number of locker rooms, one of which is devoted entirely to families.Great importance was given to the preservation of historic elements and materials of the existing sports center. These were the generators of the new building materiality. Stone is one of the essential characteristics of the existing building, it is the imprint of the past.
