Reconstruction of 3 dams on the Trent Severn Waterway

Located on the Trent Severn Waterway, Canada’s renowned inland passageway of 386 km connects Lake Ontario to Lake Huron, EBC was awarded for three (3) projects, the Douro Dam reconstruction (Lock 24), the Otonabee Dam reconstruction (Lock 23) and the Sawers Creek Dam reconstruction (Lock 25). Part of the National Historic Site, dams located on this waterway have reached the end of their life, so Parks Canada has initiated a repair program in which those three (3) structures are part. The project consists of the entire existing dam structures including :

  • Demolition of the existing structures (without blasting)
  • Construction of 3 new dams which includes deck, piers, abutments, stop logs, spillways, upstream and downstream wing walls, and east and west approach slabs.
  • Temporary works including construction of temporary bridge for each site
  • Various works related to the sediment and erosion control plan
