Project
Reconstruction of four dams on the Trent Severn Waterway
Located on the Trent Severn Waterway, a 386 km long route connecting Lake Ontario to Lake Huron, EBC was commissioned to rebuild four century-old dams: Otonabee (Lock # 23), Douro (Lock # 24), Sawers Creek (Lock # 25) and Ranney Falls (Lock # 10). As part of the National Historic Site, the dams on this waterway had reached the end of their service life. Therefore Parks Canada initiated a repair program in which these four (4) structures are part. The new structures must have a lifespan of more than 60 years and the project includes the following works:
- Demolition of the existing structures (without blasting)
- Construction of 4 new dams which includes deck, piers, abutments, stop logs, spillways, upstream and downstream wing walls, and east and west approach slabs.
- Temporary works including construction of temporary bridge for each site
- Various works related to the sediment and erosion control plan
